Aloha Green Tara, Green Tara painting, Buddha Art, Contemporary Buddhist Art
Aloha Green Tara
Acrylics on canvas
16 x 12 in
December 2019
$800

A lovely little Green Tara with the sweetest face. I wanted to finish one more artwork in 2019. I had started Green Tara in the summer but never finished. We had a nice snowy weekend in Colorado and it was the perfect time to snug into painting. I painted to my heart's content and here she is. She has the Hawaiin Aloha feeling with the colorful flower background.

Green Tara is one of the most revered figures in Buddhism. She is the female Buddha and the embodiment of loving-kindness and compassion. She is said to have been born from the tears of Chenrezig, who represents the compassion of all the Buddhas. Green Tara’s right foot comes down off her lotus as though to say, “I am here when you need me.” She is considered the most accessible of the Bodhisattvas. The lovely green of her skin is accentuated with the bright reds and blues of her robes and scarfs. She holds the blue utpala or lotus flower in her right hand and her left hand extends downward in the blessings mudra.
