2019

Saraswathi, A Little Music, is part of my Little Buddhas series. It is very difficult to carve such tiny faces and hands. I wanted to challenge myself to carve small. Saraswathi is the goddess of music and the arts. In India, she is invoked by schoolchildren to do well in their studies. she is recognized in both the Hindu and Buddhist pantheon and is attended by her swan.

Mokuhanga is an old-school labor intensive printing technique. The artist carves the woodblock and uses a baren to hand- rub the woodblock onto Kozo paper. It is low tech and non toxic method for original woodblocks.
