New Work 2018
Medicine Buddha is invoked to heal physical, mental and emotional ailments. I was thinking about Mother Earth and our planet as I painted this Buddha. I thought we could use a Medicine Buddha for the planet. I've included some of the amazing animals that populate the planet with us.
My background is painting traditional Tibetan Thankgas. I continue to follow the classic thigse proportions but represent the Buddha in more contemporary settings. I most often use Colorado and Hawaii, where I live, for my landscapes. I founded an organization American Buddhist Art to recognize Western artists who paint Buddhas. I believe this is a new art movement in America and want to educate people about, and support the artists, in this growing genre.
