This mokuhanga woodblock artwork intricately weaves together a tapestry of cultural symbols and mythological creatures, reminiscent of the vibrant patchwork of Hawaiian quilts. Inspired by the rich tapestry of cultural diversity, each element is meticulously crafted and assembled in a quilt-like fashion, symbolizing unity amidst diversity.
At the heart of the composition, a majestic dragon represents strength and a resplendent phoenix, symbolizes strength and renewal. Mynah birds, Breadfruit (ulu) and octopus come from the HawaiianIslands.
Interwoven with these iconic figures are representations of various cultural deities and creatures from across the globe. A serene Tara embodying wisdom and adaptability, share space with the benevolent presence of Ganesha the remover of obstacles, Tigers are symbol of fearlessness and dignity.
Through this multilayered woodblock, the artist champions the ethos of inclusivity, inviting viewers to embrace the richness of multiculturalism and find unity in the mosaic of humanity. Each element harmoniously coexists, transcending cultural boundaries to celebrate the beauty of diversity.
