I wanted to carve a Korean Tiger for the new year. This is a classic Korean design. The tiger represents protection and the magpie is the bearer of good news.I heavily referenced traditional Korean tigers for this piece. I varied the design just a little before hand carving. Here I show both the woodblock and the hand rubbed print on mulberry paper.
