Tara is the goddess of loving kindness. In this form she is dancing with a hook. She is a guardian deity.

I hand carved a mokuhanga woodblock and then, hand rubbed the carving onto mulberry paper using a baren. I painted the woodblock using watercolor inks.

Mokuhanga is the traditional Japanese style of woodblock prints. The block is printed onto Japanese Kozo or mulberry paper by hand rubbing with a baren. The inks used are sumie and watercolor inks. Moku hanga is a labor-intensive old school printmaking practice.I hand painted this woodblock.
