A portrait study of Jenaya, Jaima, for my Everyday Goddess Series.
Jaima will become a contemporary Goddess Kali.

In this body of work, I have been thinking about the yoga philosophy that all women are the goddess and recognizing Buddha nature in all people. I am exploring ethnic and cultural diversity as a means of expressing archetypal goddesses in contemporary settings.

My background is traditional Tibetan thangka painting. I have merged this with my studies of Mokuhanga, Japanese woodblocks. I work primarily with woodblocks and I'm inspired to revitalize the Tibetan practice of woodblocks of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in contemporary ways.
