Tara with long life crane, goddess of loving kindness and compassion, American Buddhist Art
Tara with long life crane
Mokuhanga woodblock hand rubbed onto mulberry paper

White Tara is the goddess of wisdom and compassion. She is the female Buddha and is invoked for long life. She is known as the "mother of liberation". Here she is attended by a crane which, is also a symbol of long life.

I painstakingly carved a large Mokuhanga woodblock and then hand painted.Mokuhanga is a traditional Japanese wood carving and printing technique. It is labor-intensive with hand carving and hand rubbing the prints using watercolor inks.
